Foldershare and DI-624 router reboots

Hi all,

Foldershare is great, but it causes serious instability in my router. When
Foldershare is on, the router reboots literally once a minute. As soon as I
shut down the application, the problems vanish.

I researched this problem elsewhere, and the one suggested solution
(changing to a different firmware version) doesn't seem to help.

Are there any network settings I should tweak to try and increase stability,
or do I basically have to go and get a new router?

Thanks,

David

The only setting I can think might be affecting your router is in the
More, Port Status tab of Settings. If you have checked the box labeled:
"Use UPNP to automatically forward ports" you might try unchecking it. On
some of my sites FolderShare is working fine with no open incoming ports
whatever, whether by manually configured port forwarding or set by UPnP.

I'd really rather not disable uPNP - it's really useful! Is there anything
else I can do?

I think what he meant was to disable the upnp setting within Foldershare
itself, not on the router. To do so, go to Foldershare's settings, Port
Settings, and uncheck "Use UPNP to automatically forward posts."

Oops, silly me. This seems to have solved the instability issue. Many thanks
guys.

Actually, I may have spoken too soon. Despite disabling uPNP on both clients,
I still get router reboots. It just took slightly longer to happen this time.
Any other thoughts?

David,

What firmware are you using on that 624? I seem to recall some issues with
one of the versions of the firmware that caused sporadic reboots.

Re: Foldershare and DI-624 router reboots

I was using 2.70. I upgraded it to 2.75 in accordance with something I read
on the net somewhere (the max is 2.76). The problem persists in both versions.

Re: Foldershare and DI-624 router reboots

I know you seemed to want to use uPNP but I'm using FolderShare with my
DI-624 with uPNP turned off. You may have some other reason to use uPNP. I
had problems with 2.70 and WPA. I upgraded to 2.76 and have been stable. 2.76
may not fix your reboot but is otherwise stable for me.

BACKUP YOUR CONFIGURATION BEFORE YOU UPGRADE TO 2.76. I lost all my settings!

Re: Foldershare and DI-624 router reboots

I'll try upgrading to 2.76 tonight. Just to be clear - have you turned off
uPNP on the router or in FolderShare? I disabled it in FolderShare, but as I
said above I'd prefer to keep it on in the router if possible.
