| | Fast User Switching My wife and I take advantage of Fast User Switching on our home computers (upstairs PC runs Vista, downstairs laptop runs XP). Trying to use FolderShare with this scenario has been really frustrating, because it appears that we can only get it to run for one user at a time. Let's say I logon as myself on the downstairs laptop, FolderShare begins running & syncing between the upstairs desktop. Then my wife logs onto the laptop, and FolderShare also starts to run under her user ID (I can see this by looking in Task Manager). However, if I then switch back to MY user ID, FolderShare has stopped running and says "Another copy of FolderShare with the same ID as this computer has come online. Please run the installer on each machine you with to use ..." I get the idea that this scenario isn't supported by FolderShare, because I can see that even the Start menu Programs folder for FolderShare is ONLY visible when I'm logged in as myself, since I was the one who ran the FolderShare installer (it's not installed in "All Users" Start menu). Has anyone encountered this scenario and figured out a way to make this work? Ideally, I would think that FolderShare should be run as a Windows service, and could sync (if it was provided with the proper credentials) no matter which user is logged in. |
