| | 10000 files limit to be lifted soon? Hi, First off, thanks to the team. You've solved a problem that's plagued me for several years - i.e. keeping my documents and other folders in sync between my various machines. I'm guessing in the future you'll simply have everything at one place - in the meantime sync'd replication is the answer to work around bandwidth and latency. Anyway, so I've setup a library called "My_Documents"; which keeps all the "My documents" on the different computers in sync. The problem is that "My Documents" has about 20-25 sub folders (My Music, My pictures, Manuals, Saved HTML pages etc etc). Several years, several trip with a digital camera quickly fills up # of files, plus if you have a single web page, it generally comes with about 20-30 other smaller gif/jpeg and other files. All said and done, I've got a very ordinary "My documents" folder that has about 16k files in all. Are there any plans to overcome the 10000 file limitation per library? It appears quite arbitrary. rsync manages a much larger (unlimited?) file set, so running into this was quite a surprise. I could break stuff into multiple libraries, but it would simply break the hierarchy of how I've organized stuff - it just wouldn't be natural. |

| | Re: 10000 files limit to be lifted soon? Things get somewhat better under Vista where Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc. are all under their own folders...but the 10,000 limit is a big problem for anyone with a lot of pictures, even on Vista. Thankfully I have the professional level limit (20,000 files I think), but I'm getting close to that with my photos. I really hope the FolderShare team will acknowledge this problem and offer a higher file limit as a paid service (I think that's a fair feature to charge for). Or using microsoft's own freeware tool, called synctoy. If you use synctoy along with the "netdrive tool (freeware, maps FTP server to windows drive letter), you're pretty much set. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the easy, FolderSync way (even if it copies the whole file, not just the difference as rsync). But when competing with other *free* products, it hard to start charging ... |

I was paying for FolderShare back before Microsoft bought it, and I know I'm not alone. I wasn't suggesting they start charging for FolderShare the way it is not, rather, a premium level of service. Most people prefer simplicity, and are willing to pay for it. Jason Dunn www.digitalhomethoughts.com |

| | Re: 10000 files limit to be lifted soon? The old 10,000 file limit still applies to the new site and client. But we are looking at increasing it in the future. We don't have any specifics at this point, but it is on the radar for something that we may change in coming releases. thx -Mohammed "Sid" <Sid@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:564462D8-0F5C-426C-9B0A-11A74E21E71D@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, > > First off, thanks to the team.
