Vista - Need to be logged-in on all machines to sync?

Need to be logged-in on all machines to sync?

I was just puzzling why some files I worked on at work were not synced on my
home machines... I went to the foldershare page, and noticed that my work
machine was "off-line". In fact it was turned on, but I had logged-off
before leaving tonight. So I used VNC to access it, log-on and then
rechecked the foldershare page - now it was shown as on-line, and the files
then synced. So - I logged-off via VNC, and the machine showed as being
off-line again...
Is this the way it should be? I hope not, because I don't want to have
to be logged-on on all my 4 machines for syncing to take place - I want to
turn off my 3 home machines when I leave each morning, and log-off from the
work machine (but leave it running) when I leave in the evening.

RE: Need to be logged-in on all machines to sync?

Derek:

Unfortunately, you do have to have the machines on, logged in,the
application running and logged in to Foldershare for the syncing to happen.
Now, you can lock the computer using your screen saver or just lock the
computer, but it does need to be "logged on"

Foldershare launches in the user's RUN in the registry. It's not a system
service. Would that be nice. But after they broke was was working, and
there is no response (I think they ran away after breaking it), that feature
might be a dream for some distant future.

Hope this helps.

Louis

We are actively investigating all the issues brought up on the blog/newsgroup
and are currently working on fixes for a number of them. We love/use this
product as much as you do.

Actively? Then why weren't you all on the boards this past weekend and why
don't we have any answers. Wouldn't the time right after a major release be
time for some over time. Again your actions are saying something far
different from your words "We love/use this product as much as you do." If
that were the case you guys would be all over the board with constructive
words and advise. Why not repost the old version for those having trouble
with the new one until things get sorted out? Why are there no warnings on
the Download page "Known Bugs"? Where are the regular status reports you all
promised when we had a very large outage several months back. How soon you
all forget.

RE: Need to be logged-in on all machines to sync?

Now that I realize that this is the way things are, my workaround is that I
have created a shortcut on my desktop to:

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation

which will lock the screen without having to actually log-out each evening
when I leave the office. That way I know that anything I do at home will be
synced.

BUT, I would still like to see FolderShare installed a s a service...
pretty-please...

RE: Need to be logged-in on all machines to sync?

Today we released an updated client and a serious of fixes for the
service/website to address the feedback we have gotten in the newsgroup/blog.
I understand that everyone wants these ASAP, but it takes time to investigate
and release quality updates.
