How to upgrade to the latest Windows Live FolderShare

In case you are upgrading to the latest Windows Live FolderShare from a
legacy version, here are the basic recommended steps to follow.

1. If you have version FolderShare 2.5.10 installed, than simply run the
Windows Live FolderShare setup – it will upgrade your existing installation
while preserving all the settings. Do not manually uninstall the previous
version, otherwise you'll loose you library settings.

2. If you have an older version (< 2.5.10) then:
a) Launch your currently installed FolderShare and let is synchronize your
files. Wait until no more activity is detected in your Activity Log
b) Shutdown FolderShare client
c) Uninstall that version manually from Add/Remove Programs
d) Install Windows Live FolderShare and manually map your Libraries to local
folders

Note:

In case step 2 c) fails, that is, you are unable to manually uninstall the
legacy client because of corrupted Windows Installer entries, then follow the
steps below:
1. Download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;290301
2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Installer Clean Up and run the
msicuu cleanup application
3. You will see a window with all your installed applications. Select
ByteTaxi FolderShare.

RE: How to upgrade to the latest Windows Live FolderShare

What if the Windows Installer Cleanup also does not work? I absolutely
cannot uninstall 2.5.10 on one of my machines and it no longer transfers
files either! Any help is greatly appreciated.

If all else has failed I would next try to run the install again for that
same version to see if the newer installation uninstalled more readily.

Re: How to upgrade to the latest Windows Live FolderShare

Tony,

Thank you so much for the advice - I was able to reinstall the old version
and then have installed the new version. Files still aren't transferring for
me on this computer, so I'm not sure what that problem is, but at least I
don't feel like it's the old version.

Thanks again!

RE: How to upgrade to the latest Windows Live FolderShare

I can not install the new beta version. It starts to install and gives me a
message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is
unavaliable.
Then gives me the option to browse to the path or cancel.
It is looking for the path to FolderShareSetup2.5.10(1).msi

I have tried to uninstall it and get the same message. what do I do?
