| | Sync Master How do you keep from losing changes in a file? What I mean is what if you open a Word file on one synced computer and make a change and someone makes a change to the same file on a different synced computer that is not online. What happens when you sync? -- Shannon Slaton |

So if you make changes to "One.doc" and it detects a conflict, it will create a copy with a name something like "Shannon-One.doc" (or whatever your user ID is.. then it's up to you to figure out which file is the one to keep. I use Foldershare in a business setting and honestly, it doesnt happen frequently. Then again, I keep all my computers on at all time. Regards, Stephan |

| | RE: Sync Master I did a little test to see what would happen if I opened a sync'd .txt file simultaneously on two pc's, made changes on both pc's, then saved the file on one pc, then saved it on the other. The end result: the version saved second was the only one left after this little experiment. No indication that there was any problem. I tried this experiement again with a .doc file. Both pc's had the file open. Then, when I saved the file on one pc, I got a message on the other pc saying that foldershare couldn't save the file on that pc, and giving me the option of retrying or shutting foldershare down. If I had saved the doc file under another name on the second pc, then closed down word, I probably would have then been able to click retry & the update from the first pc would have been saved also. This is not quite the same scenario that Shannon presented, but it does show that there are times when simultaneous updates aren't detected and some changes to a file would be lost. And other times when foldershare detects a problem and lets the user know about it. "Shannon Slaton" wrote: Quote: > How do you keep from losing changes in a file?
