FolderShare maintenance

Dear FolderShare friends,

Some users may have intermittent problems signing in Wednesday as we upgrade
our servers.

The upgrades begin Wednesday, June 18, at 1 PM Pacific Time (UTC-7).
All users should be back online by 9 PM the same day at the latest.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We'll post to our newsgroup when
we come back online.

- The FolderShare team.

RE: FolderShare maintenance

Why is it that we can't get an email notifying us of scheduled maintenance?
It's absurd to think that users must monitor a newsgroup to be told of
outages. And many of us can't afford to find out afterwards. Like I did
today - only AFTER I found out a file I needed was not on the second machine.

Thanks, again, MS.

RE: FolderShare maintenance

Isn't Pacific time = UTC-8?

Pacific Standard Time is UTC-8, but today Pacific Time is Pacific Daylight
Time which is UTC-7.

Re: FolderShare maintenance

Ah, ok. The foldershare website says GMT in place of UTC.

The BBC broadcasts time signals that they still call GMT but what they are
actually sending is really UTC. The maximum excursion permitted between
real GMT (now more accurately UT1) and UTC is constrained to less than 0.9
seconds, a difference that is unlikely to matter for practical purposes.
But if FolderShare appears half a second late you have made the point :-)

RE: FolderShare maintenance

These continual un-announced interruptions are incredibly annoying and cause
considerable disruption to the smooth operation of my business.

When I signed up for foldershare I was a paying customer, and it wasn't
being treated as a beta solution. I would expect that an aquisition by a
resource rich organisation like Microsoft would provide the opportunity to
improve the product. Instead every step forward has resulted in a degradation
of service.

I wanted a distributed file mirroring solution. I am prepared to pay for it.

As I post this after 2pm in Sydney Australia, the outage should be
completed, however i am still getting "connecting" as the status.

Folder share is a fantastic product. It would just be nice if Microsoft
treated it's customers with a bit more respect.

RE: FolderShare maintenance

So much for being back online by no later than 9 pm Pacific time. It is now
12:40 a.m. Central time and I still cannot connect. Leave it to MS to screw
up a good thing. I think it's time to look for something else. This product
has caused way to many issues for my business. I'm done.

RE: FolderShare maintenance

And even now that the service is back there is no announcement. It is a
really dissapointing way to treat customers.

RE: FolderShare maintenance

Guys,

You've just screwed up all my connectivity!
Is this maintenance now complete? I still can't login on any of my 4
machines, keep getting 'Connecting...' message! I've tried logging each
machine out and back in and even changed my password, but to no avail.

What's the current status?
