| | Where is Works Calendar file stored & can I move it to a shared dr I have 2 PCs connected through an ethernet switch. Both have Windows Vista & Microsoft Works. Since both users are using separate Works calendars, I'd like to be able to put the calendar file in a shared drive that both users could access & be able to view each other's calendars in Works Calendar. Is this possible? I can't find where the calendar file is located. If it is possible, please tell me how. Thanks. |

| | RE: Where is Works Calendar file stored & can I move it to a shared dr I can't say for certain that sharing calendars in Microsoft works will work that way, or at least in an "easy, hands off" way. With Microsoft Works 8.0 version (there may be a newer one) I think that what you'd have to do is everytime a change is made in one calendar, you'd have to export it to a file in the shared directory in foldershare, and import it into the other program. For doing what you're asking, I'd have to suggest using Mozilla Sunbird, and the add-on Automatic Export (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/3740), and, in theory, this should work as you asked. The good thing about Sunbird is that you can export whats currently in MS Works Calendar (into an .ICS format) and import it into Sunbird. Then, you can setup Automatic Export to do backups into the shared folder of Foldershare on both computers. You should then be able to setup Sunbird to look at the files created by Automatic Export, and whenever there are changes, they should be added automatically. One problem though is that the Automatic Export by the add-on only takes place when you close the calendar. "MargeB" wrote: Quote: > I have 2 PCs connected through an ethernet switch. | | RE: Where is Works Calendar file stored & can I move it to a share Robert, thanks for the info on Sunbird. But I still can't find the calendar file. Do you know where it's located - and if there's more than one file involved? What I'd really like to do is to store one calendar in the shared drive that can be accessed by Works Calendar on both PCs. But I can't find an option in Works to specify where the calendar is located. I wish Microsoft Works would make it easier to share files across PCs. How many households have more than one computer! | | RE: Where is Works Calendar file stored & can I move it to a shared dr Guess I shoulda answered the entire question the first time, eh? Sorry about that... The calendar folder for MS Works in Vista looks to be: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Works I'd suggest exporting the calendars on each computer in case anything weird happens (ie. one computer's calendar overwrites the other). Go to File in the menu bar, Export, and select either vcalendar or icalendar. MS Works will import either. If you can't find the folder above to set it up in FolderShare, open any folder on your computer (ie. My Documents), go to Tools in the menu bar (hit 'Alt' if there is no menu bar), and select 'Folder Options.' On the 'View' tab, look for "Hidden files and folders" and select "Show hidden files and folders, " and hit Apply or OK. Browse to the folder again thru the Foldershare website to get it set up. I don't think that you can change the location of the Calendar file used by MS Calendar. "MargeB" wrote: Quote: > I have 2 PCs connected through an ethernet switch.
