Foldershare never connects / CPU goes to 100%

Whenever I start Foldershare, it doesn't connect and the CPU goes to 100%.
Here are some random facts:

* CPU goes to 100% in svchost. Using procmon reveals that it's the WMI
service that's taking 100% of the CPU
* After turning on verbose WMI logging, I see lots and lots of WMI
queries... See log at http://suif.stanford.edu/~csapuntz/wbemcore.log
* I have Cisco VPN client installed for work (v5.0.02.0090). One time when
Foldershare did connect succesfully, it then subsequently failed after I
started the CIsco VPN client. However, other times it has failed even before
I ever started the Cisco VPN client.
* I also at one point had OpenVPN installed...
* In the Foldershare UI, the Port Status UI never becomes active...

Version 2008 (Build 14.0.1383.0530)

I have lots of types of network connections (many of them inactive):
* BlueTooth Modem (WIDCOMM 5.1.0.3400)
* VMware Network Adapter Vmnet1
* VMware Network Adapter VMnet8
* Bluetooth Network
* Cisco VPN adapter
* Broadcomm wireless
* Broadcomm NetXtreme 57xx
* Internet Gateway Connection
