| | Changing computer name I wanted to clone a computer, so I cloned the hard drive then used a new copy of XP Pro and did a REPAIR to get the new system up and running. I gave the new machine a new name, but FolderShare simply will NOT let me rename the computer ID. Whenever both machines start, I get the msg that "Another copy of FolderShare with the same ID is running". I have deleted and reinstalled the copy of Foldershare on both machines, I have gone to the web site and removed the machine (because there is only one machine name) and restarted it. All to no avail. What should I try next? |

| | RE: Changing computer name Thanks for the post. It seems that while you were cloaning HDD, you ended up cloned FolderShare user information as well. As a workarond, delete "settings" folder under %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\FolderShare and restart FolderShare, then sign in with your accont. It should fix your problem. By the way, you may need to re-map existing libraries to sync to the machine. Thanks, KyongHwan Kim "Exdairyfarmer" wrote: Quote: > I wanted to clone a computer, so I cloned the hard drive then used a new copy > of XP Pro and did a REPAIR to get the new system up and running. | | RE: Changing computer name Hi, Matt Are you running any utility/service to sync your preferences b/w machines? if so, you may consider stopping it to avoid the same issue for the future. For the Mac client, you can try following steps. 1. Close FolderShare 2. Delete ~\Library\Application Support\FolderShare folder 3. Delete ~\Library\Preferences\com.bytetaxi.foldershare.plist file 4. Restart FolderShare, then sign in with your account 5. You may need to re-map existing libraries to sync to the machine again Thank you, KyongHwan Kim [MSFT] "Matt" wrote: Quote: > I am having exactly the same problem in OSX for my mac. can you tell me > where the settings folder is on my mac? > > "KyongHwan Kim [MSFT]" wrote: > Quote: > > Thanks for the post. > > > > It seems that while you were cloaning HDD, you ended up cloned FolderShare > > user information as well.
