| | Is there a way to Filter specific File Types in FolderShare? If I want to "Filter" specific file types from synchronizing is there a way to do so in FolderShare. For example I see no reason in sending lock files from one machine to another if I open a Word Document, an AutoCAD Drawing File, etc. I pose this question because I find that we have regular problems if I have a member set up with "contributor" or "reader" since they do not have rights to delete files. There in lies the problem. When someone opens many of these types of documents and do not have the priveleges to write or delete files then FolderShare will basically require then to exit FolderShare. This forces me to give everyone at least "editor" priveleges, which I do not want to do in many cases. Yes they are my friends but sometimes friends don't understand the impact of a move, copy, delete, etc. Is there a way? Thanks... |

| | RE: Is there a way to Filter specific File Types in FolderShare? Jeremy, I appreciate your reply. I see that you are the "Lead Program Manager - Windows Live FolderShare" which tells me that I am talking to the right person. I am faced with a difficult decision. I have raved about FolderShare to the entire company as well as customers of ours. This has led to alot of people really sold on this product. I have been in the discussions before and would have no problem paying for this service. The problem is that we are faced with a decision of how we want to proceed forward with file synchronization across our organization and our sister companies. I see FolderShare as that tool but I believe we would have to have the "FolderShare Pro" version if there were such a thing. We absolutely love the real time collaboration features built in but need a bit more control and need the ability to filter file types. Can you please give me hope here or an alternative solution to offer my board members as they have told me however disheartening it may be that I have to start researching an alternative solution. Also yesterday (10/16/08) we had a user suddenly have all his shares disconnected as if he were never participating in the shares. On my end as Senior Editor it appeared that he had not yet added a computer to the share which I know is false since I added him 2 years ago myself and have actively watched over all shared members activity since. What could have happened? Thank you very much, Dedicated FolderShare User "Jeremy Epling [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > Unfortunately, there is no way to filter out file types. > > -- > Jeremy Epling > Lead Program Manager - Windows Live FolderShare > > > "Mug_Is_me" wrote: > Quote: > > If I want to "Filter" specific file types from synchronizing is there a way > > to do so in FolderShare. | | RE: Is there a way to Filter specific File Types in FolderShare? I cannot talk about the details of the next FolderShare release, but we are working on it. I know that is frustrating and I am sorry about that. If you need a solution for your corporation ASAP and FolderShare will not work, you should consider Microsoft Groove. It is targeted at corporations and will give you more control. FolderShare is focused on consumers. I hope that helps and I hope you stick with FolderShare. Please have your coworker contact Microsoft Support or post to this newsgroup so that we can help him/her with the issue. -- Jeremy Epling Lead Program Manager - Windows Live FolderShare "Mug_Is_me" wrote: Quote: > Jeremy, > > I appreciate your reply.
