How does one disable encryption in the Windows client?

I am a new user, trying to share folders between XP and Mac OS X Leopard.
It's not synching as recorded elsewhere in this forum.
I see that the solution is to disable encryption at both ends. I can do this
on the Mac, but can see no way to do this on XP.

In the most recent version MS took almost all of the configuration
parameters of FS out of the GUI. Thanks MS!!!!!

The following advice is given with good intentions but it may be wrong,
dangerous, illegal and fattening. Caveat Hacker!

You first need to find the settings file. I know nothing about Vista but
in Windows XP the default location is in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\FolderShare\settings

where {username} is the Windows username you used when installing, and you
use while running, FolderShare.

Please back up any file you intend to change. Also FolderShare must not be
running when making this change or the change will be ignored and the
cached copy of the current file will overwrite any changes you try to make.

The file name is {number}.ini where the number is particular to your
installation. You will need to use a plain text editor (notepad etc) to
edit and change this one line:

encryptTransfers = true

and change it to this:

encryptTransfers = false

You did make a backup copy before editing that file, didn't you?
