So, what is the difference between libraries and folders?

The announcement that Windows Live Sync will be able to handle 20 libraries
(not folders) has me asking, what's the difference?

What I would like is the ability to create "libraries" that contain folders
from different locations on the computer - essentially a virtual folder. Is
this what "library" means?

A library in FS has always been one complete tree branch of folders. So
from whatever folder you name as being the "location" of that library, any
and all sub-folders, and to all depths within allowed name length limits,
below that one are included in that library. We don't yet know what Sync
will allow and whether it will have the same characteristics.

That sounds like a folder to me, so I don't know why Microsoft would insist
on different terminology. I hope that Live Sync does have some sort of
virtual folder capability.
