Vista - File transfer time?

Ok - I was just introduced to this program and think I have it set up
correctly

I finally figured out how to set up personal folders to sync - I put a
test file in one file on my desktop computer to experience the process
of syncing with my laptop. The program seems to have put a placeholder
in the laptop file - but it's been forever and the actual file hasn't
transfered over.

This was one fairly small file - I can't imagine how long this process
would be with graphic files. Have I done somethng wrong or does it
normally take this long?
