| | Error : The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Hi, I dont know why but I am unable to open WMV files from attachment files in Windows Live Mail desktop. I am always having the error : "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel". The wmv file is already associated to a working program and if I copy/paste the attachment wmv file to my desktop, I can launch it successfully. I would like to launch it directly by double clicking on the file through WLMD (v 12.0.1184). Please could you help me ? Thanks ![]() -- Pascal |

WLMD is 3 generations behind; WLM build 1184 is 2 versions back. Go here to get the final, non-beta version of Windows Live Mail (no "desktop" in the name since last May): http://get.live.com/wl If that doesn't fix your problem, please post back with updated details. | | Re: Error : The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Hi RC, thank you for the information. First, I am not sure this is a version of WLMD issue because it was working nicely before. Otherwise, I am interested about installing the latest version of WLMD (through WLInstaller) but unfortunately the WLINstaller.exe is not compatible with my current OS (Windows 2008 for testing purpose :-/) How can I find the direct link for downloading the latest WLMD client ? (I hate this common installer (wlinstaller.exe) as I have a lot of problem with it (not working through proxy; not working on every operating systems etc... :/) Thank you Quote: > Hi, Pascal. > > Let me be the first to say... > > WLMD is 3 generations behind; WLM build 1184 is 2 versions back. > > Go here to get the final, non-beta version of Windows Live Mail (no "desktop" > in the name since last May): > http://get.live.com/wl > > If that doesn't fix your problem, please post back with updated details. > > RC > -- > R. The URL for the WLM-only installer gets posted here several times a week, but I can't locate it just now. Maybe some kind soul will post it again for you. I don't know if it will work on your Windows 2008 version. RC -- R. C. I already know this link thank you but it is only English version :/ I would really appreciate to have a french version sorry ![]() I have some computer knowledge so if someone can help me, I would like to try two things. 1. Trying to modify the IF condition about the operating systems authorized to launch the WLInstaller.exe 2. Find the direct url used by WLinstaller to download WLMD. About the second question,I have already extracted the "dashboard.msi" file from WLinstaller.exe but I didn't find any URL by editing it with Orca. Someone could help me about this problem ? (I will create another post just about this) Thank you Quote: > Here 'tis: > http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=599503 > -- > Cheers, > Peter > (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) > "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in > your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- > "R. Maybe this will help (from an anonymous post on November 8): Download "http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/mu_wlmail_ceeb0a518c16c65bca931900e77880ec36b3350e.exe" Then use a resource editor (http://www.wilsonc.demon.co.uk/d10resourceeditor.htm) to extract wlmail.msi from the exe But that is an English version also I expect. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Pascal" <pascal_t@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:mn.e2807d7b628500a6.70874@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Peter, > > thanks a lot. > > I already know this link thank you but it is only English version :/ > I would really appreciate to have a french version sorry ![]() > > I have some computer knowledge so if someone can help me, I would like > to try two things. > 1.
