| | Can not Copy to Paste Buffer I'm new to Windows Live Mail (on WinXP) and like the new look and feel. (Perhaps M/S can come out with a new windows manager that give all windows on XP the same look and feel, but that is another topic) Many times I find it necessary to copy text from a mail message and then paste it into something else, such as receiving one of those 16 random character temporary passwords that need to be entered into a field in another application. I can not seem to copy anything into the paste buffer unless I first start to forward the message, copy the text, and then cancel the forward. I let Mail Live automatically import my settings from OE v6 or whatever version is installed as a result of upgrading to IE7. Any suggestions? ~alan |

| | Re: Can not Copy to Paste Buffer What Operating System are you using (XP or Vista) and when exactly happens when you highlight the text and the Right click on it? I've tried it here and it works perfectly for me. ©LarryEș "~~Alan~~" <alan.shepro_NoSpam@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ewoA0UpMIHA.4880@xxxxxx I'm new to Windows Live Mail (on WinXP) and like the new look and feel. Here's what I did: 1) Open an existing email, select some text in the body, ctrl-C to copy. 2) Go to Notepad, ctrl-V to paste -- works as expected. 3) Go back to the email, select some other text in the body, ctrl-C 4) Go to Notepad, ctrl-V -- doesn't work -- pastes the same text as in step 2. I'm running WLM 12.0.1606 on Vista Home Premium. ps. Right-click copy works, so maybe it is a problem with handling keyboard events. |

| | Re: Can not Copy to Paste Buffer Same here. We went through this once before in another thread and the 4-step scenario posted by Baffin works fine for me in Vista Home Premium. I just tried it again and it works. Have no idea what could be wrong, sorry. ©LarryEș "Gary VanderMolen" <gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:exMuj9xMIHA.5264@xxxxxx I followed your 4-step scenario, and it worked just fine for me. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "Baffin" <Baffin@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:E4A73595-6F4C-453C-A74B-E4EF8BF4EAC5@xxxxxx Quote: Quote: >> another application. Now I'll have to retrain myself for WLM to see how often Ctrl-c is a problem in it too. Thanks... ; ] Robert Aldwinckle --- |

| | Re: Can not Copy to Paste Buffer Thanks for posting your test results. I tried plugging in another different keyboard (a recent USB from Dell) and got the exact same results -- the first ctrl-C works but not subsequent. However, right-clock, Copy works. I'm using a recent Dell desktop, Inspiron 531, with Home Premium. This problem hasn't been observed in any other application, just WLM. |
