cannot send mail - at all. *can* receive mail!!

Using XP SP2, was using Outlook Express, upgraded to Windows Live Mail beta,
imported all mail and setting.

WON'T SEND MAIL. Upgraded to released version of WLM client, also
installing messenger, family safe, desktop search, etc

tried using another mail client - no success

Successfully pinged ISP mail server. Can use telnet to initiate connection
to inbound mail server, port 110. Telnet fails to connect to outbound smtp
mail server, port 25

All happened after upgrading to Windows Live Mail

Is this a pop account? Hotmail?
The account settings are the same for OE or WLM.

Re: cannot send mail - at all. *can* receive mail!!

If telnet fails, it's unlikely wlm that is causing your problem. (telnet ==
the best debugging tool ever, next to notepad -- imho)

Are you sure your isp uses port 25? it's very rare these days to find
anyone still using that port. Are you still able to send via OE6? I'd
recommend you check with your ISP's help pages to verify that they don't use
SSL or an alternate port for sending mail.

Re: cannot send mail - at all. *can* receive mail!!

Chances are, you've changed something else, like your location.
Many Internet providers (including ones at WiFi hotspots) block port 25
connection to anything except their own SMTP server. Does your
home ISP offer alternate SMTP ports like 465 or 587?
