Whenever I click on a link in the email message I get a popup error message
that says " Windows cannot find: please type the address again". Any ideas
as to why this is happening? It started on Friday Nov. 2. I am using
Windows Vista Home Premium with IE7 and Maxthon 2.0. Thanks for any help in
advance.

Re: error message

Well, that makes it a Firefox problem. Firefox needs to register itself
with the appropriate mechanisms in Vista.

Re: error message

Yeah I was having the same problem. I've got the latest version of Windows
Live Mail (12.0.1606) and just update Firefox to 2.0.0.11 and everything is
fine now. Try that yourself.

error message

I also get this error message. It ONLY happens with WLM and ONLY when I do
not already have a browser window open. ANY link in an email brings the error
message up. I use Firefox as default but also have IE7 installed. When I
switched to IE7 as default it makes no difference. Links stored in documents
on the drive do not return the error.
Strangely enough, after the error comes up, if I take no action the browser
(no matter the default) opens about 2 seconds later.
Win XP Pro, using both Firefox and IE7, WLM appears to be the key. Checked
the event viewer under system, application, and internet explorer. No error
there.

Very aggravating but doesn't seem to cause crashes.
Any clues?

Re: error message

Hi, amergerm35.

Somehow you managed to leave out the text of the error message, so we have
no idea what the problem might be. :>(

Re: error message

Sorry, I had meant to copy the error from the beginning of the thread.

Windows cannot findinsert hyperlink here) please type the address again"
It treats every hyperlink that comes in WLM or Outlook as a file. I already
checked my file associations and everything else suggested in this thread.
I'm also running a clean install of Win XP Pro.

I also get this error message. It ONLY happens with WLM and ONLY when I do
not already have a browser window open. ANY link in an email brings the error
message up. I use Firefox as default but also have IE7 installed. When I
switched to IE7 as default it makes no difference. Links stored in documents

Win XP Pro, using both Firefox and IE7, WLM appears to be the key. Checked
the event viewer under system, application, and internet explorer. No error
there.

Strangely enough, it started on my old computer at about the same time it
was first reported here.

Re: error message

This was a recurring problem in beta versions of the program, but I thought
it had largely been fixed in the gold release. It may have something to do
with different browsers competing for attention. A workaround which worked
for some people was, in the Control panel > Folder options > File types >
URL: entries for HTTP etc., click the Advanced button, highlight Open and
select Edit. On the resulting page, deselect Use DDE. Please let us know if
this makes any difference.

Re: error message

I made the changes and it seems to have no effect. Interestingly enough,
de-selecting the "use DDE' doesn't seem to keep after I say ok and close the
view. The next time I open it it's still selected but I don't thin that's the
problem.
I migrated to Outlook 2003 yesterday in an attempt to work around this and
it actually opens one of my document folders, waits, then opens a browser.
