| | send message from IE7 link I have noticed that more often than not, if I clilck a link on a webpage to send an email to someone (their email address is the link), my Outlook opens up even if I have WLM running. What I then have to do is go to options and click on "make WLM default". I don't understand why I have to keep doing it, if I have done it once.... Thanks for your help. |

| | Re: send message from IE7 link Just because a program is listed as 'default' does not mean it has been assigned all of its possible default actions or protocols. Try this: Go to Default Programs, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Live Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "aries" <aries@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:991878DD-512B-439B-BEA3-110646B9F508@xxxxxx Quote: >I have noticed that more often than not, if I clilck a link on a webpage to > send an email to someone (their email address is the link), my Outlook opens > up even if I have WLM running. | | Re: send message from IE7 link Your reply might be helpful in Vista but was moderately helpful to my Windows XP SP2, where you have to go to Add and Remove Programs and click on "set program access and defaults" That seems to do the trick. Thanks. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Just because a program is listed as 'default' does not mean it has been > assigned all of its possible default actions or protocols. | | Re: send message from IE7 link Glad to hear you got it resolved. Giving a proper response in this newsgroup is often complicated by not knowing whether the OP is using Windows XP or Vista. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "aries" <aries@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3EA0E61C-F23A-4751-9D11-EFE7778DE14F@xxxxxx Quote: > Your reply might be helpful in Vista but was moderately helpful to my > Windows XP SP2, where you have to go to Add and Remove Programs and click on > "set program access and defaults" > > That seems to do the trick. > Thanks. > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> Just because a program is listed as 'default' does not mean it has been >> assigned all of its possible default actions or protocols. | | Re: send message from IE7 link Please note: Future Office updates including the Junk Mail Filter update, will most likely return Outlook at the default email client. -- ...winston ms-mvp windows live mail "aries" <aries@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3EA0E61C-F23A-4751-9D11-EFE7778DE14F@xxxxxx Quote: > Your reply might be helpful in Vista but was moderately helpful to my > Windows XP SP2, where you have to go to Add and Remove Programs and click > on > "set program access and defaults" > > That seems to do the trick. > Thanks. |
