| | won't stop receiving mail I want to know why even though I have 0 minutes for frequency of checking for mail, my WLM routinely checks for all comcast.net and hotmail and windows live mail periodically. Sometimes it does it just after I have told it to receive all. 99% of the time I catch it doing it just after I have clicked to close the program. Is anyone else having this experience? It would be nice to have some control over it. |

| | Re: won't stop receiving mail It won't set to zero, but I had it on 30 and then unchecked the box. I can't tell you how often it checks exactly but I know just about every time I close the program, I notice that it checks. Also if I close it just before I shut down, it will say "do you want to abort the download" sometimes. In between times, I can only say often enough to warrant concern. Interestingly enough, I thought, maybe unchecking isn't enough so I went and changed it to the max, which is 480, and then unchecked it again. Closed, shut down, then when I came back on and opened it up to answer this question, lo and behold it is set at 30 again. The only thing I can say for all of this is that there is really no control over the program. (Sorry my mistake for saying zero, I meant unchecked when I first wrote the question. The lowest is 1. ) Must be some kind of log you can access to see what it is doing. (?) Have a nice evening/day/whatever. | | Re: won't stop receiving mail OK. Now I have it set to create a log. Second question - No I have it unchecked, I have for quite some time now. I don't think I've ever noticed it checking on startup, only in between times, after I check (receive all) for mail, and after I (attempted to) close the program. Now that it is logging, I guess I will wait some time and then look at the log after awhile. Although I might not be able to understand how to make sense of it. THANKS for your help ! Are you using a Send button to do that or Tools,...Send All? Quote: > 99% of the time I catch it doing it just after I have clicked > to close the program. Interesting! Have you tried activating troubleshooting logging to see if anything is recorded for this event? OE used to have a message warning you if you had anything left in your Outbox before closing. Is there something stuck in your Outbox? Quote: > > Is anyone else having this experience? It would be nice to have some > control over it. Not me but I only do newsgroups with WLM. | | Re: won't stop receiving mail OK. Let me explain. I have AOL, Comcast, hotmail and windows live mail emails that I check periodically (manually). So after the WLM has FINISHED checking all of these when I do "receive all", then I see the little blue ball at the bottom right hand corner saying "connecting". So I click on it, and lo and behold the popup window shows that it is starting over again, but this time (always) with the Comcast first, then the hotmail and live mail. So I figure it must be a bug in the program, since I haven't given it a command to do that. I can't honestly say that it happens every single time (I used to have it set for 30 minutes, or whatever, then I unchecked the "check messages every ... minutes " box) that I manually "receive all", but it happens often enough to get my attention. It's been happening for quite some time but just tonight I felt like I wanted to spend time typing all of this stuff in to share with y'all. | | Re: won't stop receiving mail Nothing is in the outbox. I only just tonight activated the "logging" feature. We'll see what comes out of that, if anything. Other than this, WLM is a great program!
