What is best DUPLICATE file finder ?

I am looking for a DUP finder.

Who has good experiences with one?

I am trying " No Clone 2007" and "Easy Duplicate Finder".

When I have finished with the latter and no more DUPS are found and then go
to the former "No clone 2007" it still finds 300 dups.

Re: What is best DUPLICATE file finder ?

First you should look at the criteria that any software utility supports.
In this case not only do you want the (overly simple) Date and Time Stamp
option, but also more advance file checking options such as a

'CRC' check and/or the ability to perform a 'Bit by Bit' comparison between
two files.

Also a good checker should allow you to specify 'Source' and 'Destination'
criteria such as for example:
1) All files located on the C: drive (Source) to files located on the D:
drive (destination)
2) Also look for the ability to specify folders and subfolders as opposed to
the entire drive.

Next the displayed results should give you the option to show 'All' files
that 'Match' or only those that have the same name but fail either a 'CRC'
or 'Bit comparison' check. If a file fails 'CRC' or 'Bit comparison' then it
is truly different.

You should also look for the ability to individually delete the file or
files you choose to delete or 'All' the duplicates found.

That said one utility that I have used in the past is: Beyond Compare

Re: What is best DUPLICATE file finder ?

That was a fine explanation and I thank you for the detail.

I have gone to the website which you posted and downloaded the Trial
version, but am confused. It asks to COMPARE 2 folders or files.

I want to find Duplicates on a whole drive, no compare.

Re: What is best DUPLICATE file finder ?

Since you can not have two files with the same name in the same folder you
must specify which folders to use as a starting point.
The PC that I used this utility on is no longer working so I can't help with
the detail/questions you may have. However you should be able to specify the
root of the drive (Example C:\) as a starting point.
