| | reported number of messages in newsgroups Hi I have WLM set to get 500 headers at a time. However, with this group for instance, in the left hand pane where the group shows, the number in brackets next to it says (199), but I only see about 90 messages in the right hand pane. I suppose I would expect that when I select the group for the first time it would it would download the last 500 headers and they would then remain visible as other new ones are added over time. Why do I only see 90 odd please? Many thanks |

| | Re: reported number of messages in newsgroups The bracketed (..) figure is UNREAD messages. Do you have all messages expanded? In the Status Bar at the bottom it gives you the total number of messages and again, the unread number. -- İLarryEş "JIP" <fred@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#Qbo3ZnOIHA.1184@xxxxxx Hi I have WLM set to get 500 headers at a time. I just don't understand why, if I have set to download 500 headers, there aren't at least 500 messages visible. I'm missing something in my understanding, but I don't know what, or where to find out. |

| | Re: reported number of messages in newsgroups Ok, as of this posting, I show a total of 2428 messages and I only have 1 unread. How many do you show? And just to test, go into Tools/Options/Read and put a check in the "Automatically expand grouped messages". That's just to make sure you can see all Unread messages and count them again. -- İLarryEş "JIP" <fred@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:e8lqraoOIHA.5860@xxxxxx "İLarryEş" <me@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C3D3C63B-09E9-44B0-9CC3-5195AB5C2C23@xxxxxx Quote: > The bracketed (..) figure is UNREAD messages. I was only counting the headers of original posts, and not counting the replies. Makes more sense now - I think!!! Thanks for the reply |
