| | Setting up contact groups I imported contacts from my XP computer into my new Vista Computer, but I seem to have lost the ability to set up contact groups in the process. Going to Help, it says: "On the toolbar, click New Contact Group, type a name in the Group Name box, and then fill in the boxes on the Contact Group tab and Contact Group Details tab. You don't have to fill in all the boxes; just type as much information as you want about the new contact group you are creating." However, when I open contacts, I get a list of contact files (as with any other directory), but there is no heading called 'New Contact Group' anywhere. It as if clicking on the Contact icon in Windows Live is taking me to the source driectory and not displaying the Contacts within the Windows Live format. Any ideas what I need to do? |

| | Re: Setting up contact groups There is an arrow beside the 'New' button on the Contacts toolbar. Click on that and you will see the Group option (see screenshot below). -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "esterel" <esterel@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:93A52914-5AB9-43D7-A028-55536A676F92@xxxxxx Quote: > I imported contacts from my XP computer into my new Vista Computer, but I > seem to have lost the ability to set up contact groups in the process. | | Re: Setting up contact groups The Help you mention does not seem to refer to Windows Live Mail. Windows Mail, perhaps? | | Re: Setting up contact groups This is a known issue with Windows Contacts in Vista. The folder type sometimes reverts to a non-contacts format. To fix it: Open Contacts, right-click in a blank area, select "Customize This Folder". Under "Use this folder type as template" click the dropdown and select Contacts, click OK. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "esterel" <esterel@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:349752EF-3C75-498F-8D98-D37EAE8E6ADF@xxxxxx Quote: > You are right - I am talking about Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail).
