Outlook Express Contact list option

Outlook Express has contact list at left side corner which has been removed
and become more likely as Microsoft Office Outlook.
I wonder if there is a way I can change the setting to show contact list as
old outlook express?

Thanks,

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

Nope.
MS has elected to save contacts in a folder.
And WM, WLM & outlook do not share a contacts folder.

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

Hi, Jimmy! I also brought up this point a while back, but it sounded like
there wasn't too much interest from customers in this feature (it was also
removed from Windows Mail in Vista). However, if more customers request
this feature, it could gain some priority.

For now, you could try switching the contacts window to the list view format
(with just the Name header) and tiling that window and the main WLM window
next to each other on the screen. It might be a little awkward, but it
should give you access to contacts and the main window at the same time.

Thanks for using Windows Live Mail!

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

Why would microsoft even think it was a good idea to do away the contact list
along the side of the window? Why is adding extra steps to emailing an
improvement? Formerly I could double click a name in the contacts and anew
email box would open. I don't need microsoft to be my big brother and decide
what i need and don't need. I think you would hear much more about this if
people weren't so occupied with trying to get the piece of junk known as
vista to run properly. Microsoft will never build a program that works
properly.

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

I never used the Contacts folder feature in OE, and I suspect that a
lot of other people did not use it either. I understand Microsoft did
Focus Group research on how people used OE, and they did away
with seldom used features when they developed Windows Mail.

Why do you say it takes extra steps? When I start a new email I go:
Click on New, click on To, select recipient.
Not exactly a plethora of steps. :-)

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

Click on New, type a few letters, click on the name (address).
WLM is very good about generating a list of names.

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

And previously all I had to do was double click on a name that was
CONVENIENTLY located in the sidebar and, voila! box ready to type into.
Perhaps your time has NO value but mine does, especially since I have to
spend so damn long waiting for pages to open up with Vista. What a piece of
junk! My 500 MB RAM XP comp opens web pages 10 times faster that my 3 GB RAM
comp with Vista does. Way to go MS. Give me XP and Outlook Express any day
over Vista and Windows dead mail.

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

Then go back to XP and Outlook Express. And that's not a smart aleck answer
either. If you are having that many problems with Vista or Windows Mail or
Windows Live Mail, the revert while it is still available.

Re: Outlook Express Contact list option

There is not much chance that you just clicked on a contact.
23 to 33 contacts is all that will show depending on whether the folder list
is displayed.
Either you have very few contacts or you are forgetting that you are
scrolling to find a contact.
