default account does not stick in new mail

My wife uses Live mail with comcast and hotmail (default)accounts set
up. When she creates a new message with an attachment, the 'from'
address is hotmail, not comcast.
I have a live mail setup that has adelphia (old I know) and
hotmail(default); when I create a new message, I see that the 'from'
default address is adelphia, not hotmail.
Is there a fix for this problem?

Re: default account does not stick in new mail

WLM doesn't use the concept of default account. When you start
a new email, whichever account you have selected (highlighted)
in the left folder pane will be the one that is used for the 'From'
address.

Re: default account does not stick in new mail

A bit oversimplified, I think, Gary, to say that "WLM doesn't use the
concept of default account." If WLMail can't work out which account you want
to use, then it uses the settings for the default account to send.

(a) Although an account other than the default is selected in Mail view, if
you select New > E-mail message in another view (newsgroups, feeds or
contacts), then the default sending account will be the default account.

(b) If focus is on a folder under Storage folders, selecting New > E-mail
message will select the default account as the default sending account.

(c) "Reply" will invoke the account on which the message being replied to
was received, unless it was a newsgroup post, in which case the default mail
account will be used.

So the concept of Default account is certainly current. In newsgroups, for
example, it determines the target for a news: link. If the link points to a
message not carried by the default news server, an error occurs - regardless
of the current active news server.

Re: default account does not stick in new mail

You're right. I should have said that the default account is
overridden by the selection of an email account folder.

Re: default account does not stick in new mail

Good explanation.
One additional aspect should be noted.
To ensure a non Live ID account's Contacts(e.g Comcast pop3) are used then
Tools/Options/Connection/Stop Signing In should be enabled. Otherwise WLM
will use the the Live ID contacts last signed-on even if the non Live ID is
the default account.

If the non LiveID account contacts and the Live ID contacts are identical
then 'Stop Signing in' is not relevant. Though changes made in one account's
unique contacts will not sync with another account.
