multiple Inboxes

I have 3 email accounts - in OE there was only one Inbox/sent folder/outbox
covering all accounts - now I have to check through 3 of each to find
emails - is there a way to amalgamate the inboxes and other folders into one
as in OE

Re: multiple Inboxes

That wish has been expressed here many times (myself included).
Unfortunately, WLM's design team chose not to accommodate that option.
About the best you can do is set up a custom folder under Storage folders,
then use a message rule to direct all incoming mail to that folder.

Re: multiple Inboxes

Quick views is intended to give you this functionality. View > Layout >
Folder pane > Show Quick views. Then right-click on Quick views and Select
Quick views. All inbox will show you the contents of all three of your
inboxes - and the rest you can probably work out for yourself.
When in the All inbox Quick view, you will be able to click on a column
header in the Message list and select Columns. If you make sure that Account
is one of them, you'll be able to see at a glance which account which
message belongs to.

Thanks for that info. Helped me, too.

I noticed that in customizing the toolbar (because I wanted to get rid
of the Blogs button because I don't bother with them) that I can add
the following buttons:

Inbox
Outbox

There is only one Outbox so it is self-evident to where I get focused
when clicking on that button. I'm not sure to which folder I get
focused when clicking on the Inbox toolbar button. When I click the
Inbox button, there is no highlighting or marker displayed to indicate
which folder has focus.

It goes to the default account Inbox.
Inbox can also be added to the newsgroup toolbar.

Re: multiple Inboxes

Gary,
Using the WLM Storage folder and a rule or the Quick View/Unread
Mail(suggested
by Ildhund in this thread using the terminology Quick View\All Inbox) may or
may not always function.
And a few, previously discussed, well let's just call them idiosyncrasies
(certainly not features) remain:

1. Quick View Unread Mail doesn't always count properly(the attached pic
shows 9 unread
messages in each accounts folders where as Quick View in this case shows 5)
- The four accounts(see attached pic) are an Msn(legacy pop3 msn
account), Live(http live.com), Earthlink(pop3), Yahoo(pop3)
- the 5 Quick view messages present are Msn(2), Live(2), Elink(0),
Yahoo(1)
2. Replying to a sender may default to the sending address in the From
Field.
3. To: field(button) for adding names in any reply will use the last logged
on Live Account contacts or the default contacts if 'Stop signing in' on the
Connections tab is activated not necessarily the sending account.
4. Unread Contacts may not count properly either(all 4 recipient account's
individual contacts have the the sender as a contact)

Re: multiple Inboxes

Ron,
Though that button(Inbox on Newsgroup Toolbar) may not go to the default
email account Inbox in the same fashion as the Inbox button on the Mail
Toolbar).
Haven't investigated too deeply beyond changing default email accounts(4 are
available all tried), closing WLM, opening WLM, switching to and retesting
in WLM News.

Re: multiple Inboxes

It's been established that Quick views is fragile. When it breaks, the
message count doesn't work and it will only show (mail) messages received
after the accident. The treatment has been posted many times: delete
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\SearchFolderVersion, and the
prophylactic: don't delete any folder under Storage folders.

Yet the latter is what Ron Sommer seems to be suggesting as the first step
in removing unwanted messages from the ("Quick View" of) All News <eg>

BTW I would have sworn that I had posted that news link correctly yesterday
but somehow in Sent Items I found the %23 converted back to a #
(which won't work if you try to use it from the IE Address bar.)
In any case I am sending it today with %23. If it changes again
there is a bug somewhere.

There's a subtle difference. What breaks the Quick views is deleting, say,
an empty Recovered items folder showing under Storage folders in the Folder
pane - i.e. using the UI. Ron very bravely used Explorer to delete the
newsgroup folder found in the Store folder, but found that a subsequent
compaction - reindexing of the MessageStore - brought everything into line
again. If this had caused a(nother) malfunction in Quick views, I think he'd
have said so.

That one works fine for me with its %23. Of the two in the preamble to this
post, yours (which has a #) doesn't work, but mine (with neither # nor %23)
does. What's your explanation for that?

I hope you noticed my post yesterday claiming that news: links invoke the
default news server, not the one currently active.

Whilst we're at it, why does your post have no Content-Type or charset
header when mine do?
