| Guest | WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Hello Newsgroup, I just recently switched to WLM and also imported all accounts that have been configured in OE 6. All accountinformation imported seemingly well, however, I'm unable to synchromize my Lycos email account. When I try to manualy start synchronisation, the following error is thrown: -------------------------------------------- Es konnten keine Nachrichten für das Konto Webindian (Lycos) gesendet oder empfangen werden. Der Vorgang wurde abgebrochen. Serverfehler: 0x80004004 Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx' Windows Live Mail-Fehlernummer: 0x80004004 -------------------------------------------- (Since I'm using German OS, the error obviously is also German... Lycos uses this URL for the connection: http://webdav.lycos.de/httpmail.asp Of course, I contacted MS Live Mail Support regarding this issue, however, no response so far :-( BTW, synch'ing with OE6 works perfectly well with the very same credentials... Any suggestion, comment, hint is very much appreciated. KR Peter |

| Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server You're getting the error because the default HTTP setup in WLMail uses Hotmail's new DeltaSync protocol for synchronization, while it looks like Lycos.de is using Webdav. I don't know whether WLMail works with WebDav, but it's worth trying. From Lycos support (http://secure.mail.lycos.de/app/help...r.jsp?id=163): Folgende Einstellungen sind erforderlich: Posteingangsserver ist ein HTTP-Server HTTP-Mail Dienstanbieter: "Andere" Adresse: http://webdav.lycos.de/httpmail.asp Nutzername: Ihre vollständige E-Mail Adresse (ihrName@xxxxxx) Passwort: Ihr Lycos Passwort So, right-click on the account in the Folder pane, select Properties and put in these details. If it still doesn't work, delete the account, close down and reopen WLMail, then set up the account again. Choose the "Manually configure server settings..." option. -- Noel "PeterM" <peter_mauler@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:115BC48A-6A6B-4D7B-903A-4868B747208B@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Noel, thank you for your suggestion. It really would be useful, however, WLM doesn't provide an option to set the server type of an http server. This is the difference between OE6 and WLM and probably the cause, why it didn't work after the import... BTW, still no answer from MS regarding this issue... :-( Merry X-Mas Peter "Ildhund" <jnllb@xxxxxx> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:uAOZMHxQIHA.4180@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Sorry, Peter, I can't tell from your reply whether you got this working or not. You can specify the server name on the Server tab of the Properties sheet for the Lycos account. The fact that WLMail uses DeltaSync as its default format for HTTP mail doesn't mean that other protocols aren't supported; in fact, I think that some users have had success accessing Hotmail through the DAV protocol as used by MSN's HTTPMail. What answer are you waiting for from MS? -- Noel "PeterM" <peter_mauler@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:736DF95C-84E5-4B2A-B94A-3C3EADC3DD39@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Unfortunately, it didn't work. I couldn't find an option to change the protocol in the properties of this account. I even deleted it and started from scratch... But still I didn't see any option to set the protocol. In Outlook Express 6 this option was available. Since also the import of settings into WLM didn't work, I assume, that this setting isn't available any more. Thank you for your feedback. Happy New Year. | Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Thanks, mae. I thought I'd read that somewhere, but couldn't unearth it when I looked. So, Peter, sorry to send you on a wild goose chase. It looks like you'll have to use something like FreePops ( http://freepops.org/en ) to access your Lycos mail in WLMail. It works perfectly for me to get both Hotmail and Yahoo, and as far as I can see lycos.de is supported out of the box. -- Noel "mae" <agrannie@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OoNCU#6SIHA.4752@xxxxxx | See this post - re: WebDav in WindowsLiveMail. | http://groups.google.com/group/micro...26b82e617bcc87 | | -mae | | "PeterM" <peter_mauler@xxxxxx> wrote in message | news:86854B66-CA78-4D7E-9DBE-F4117AB9BF75@xxxxxx || Unfortunately, it didn't work. | Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server Dear mae, dear Noel, Thank you both for your efforts in helping me with that issue. So to recap: MS stopped supporting WebDav with WLM and that's the reason, why I can't synch with Lycos :-( That's really a pity, because I like the layout and the way WLM works. Maybe, with a future release, MS will reconsider this decision. Till then, I will rather use OE6 instead... Thank you again and have a great and prosperous New Year! | Guest | Re: WLM not working with Lycos HTTP Email Server To whom it may concern. Latest update on this issue...: According to Microsoft, Hotmail will discontinue supporting webdav, so you HAVE TO switch to WLM if you want to access your hotmail account. OE6 will be no longer supported for accesssing your hotmail account. So if you have (as I do) both a hotmail and a Lycos Email account, you are forced to use two different email clients.
