spam filter and new message notification

After a couple of weeks of testing the spam filter and not getting one false
positive, I have now set it to automatically delete spam.

However, WLM still sounds the new mail notification alert, and the icon in
the system tray also shows "new mail".

Anyway of having these alerts only if there is mail that is NOT filtered and
deleted?

I suspect not. This kind of thing was quite difficult to do in Outlook and
required a devious macro.
