| Guest | to not dl mess on set up I installed WLM on a vista computer. I added hotmail and gmail accounts successfully. I had the option (cannot remember where) on set up to only receive new messages that I receive and not all the older ones (I have thousands of old ones that I do not want to download to wlm). I then upgraded my yahoo mail to allow pop mail access. When I set up the yahoo account on wlm there was no option to just receive new messages and it started to download many of the thousand messages there, so I just closed it. Can you tell me where to find that option to just download all new messages received. Do I need to delete the yahoo mail account on wlm and then reinstall it? thank you. |

| Guest | Re: to not dl mess on set up That option, download only new messages, is unique to Gmail. With other providers, like Yahoo, you will have to access the account via webmail, then move all the messages you don't want downloaded to a folder other than Inbox. POP clients only download from the server's Inbox folder. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "zydeco" <zydeco@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5477538C-6E51-49C5-A9A4-8146D5E23988@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: to not dl mess on set up Thanks. Do you know...if I move all the yahoo messages out of the inbox, run wlm, once with yahoo, then move the yahoo messages back into the yahoo inbox, will the problem be eliminated, or will it just repeat itself? "Gary VanderMolen" wrote:

| Guest | Re: to not dl mess on set up I'm pretty sure WLM would treat the messages moved back into the server Inbox as new messages and would download those. You could test it by moving just one message back. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "zydeco" <zydeco@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1C0D090A-9372-48D5-A9A0-20F0D2BD5389@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: to not dl mess on set up Mark the messages on the Yahoo Mail server as read. Pop3 access in a mail client only downloads unread messages. -- ...winston MS-MVP Windows Live Mail "zydeco" <zydeco@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5477538C-6E51-49C5-A9A4-8146D5E23988@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: to not dl mess on set up I just tested this with my Yahoo account. The read message was subsequently downloaded by the POP client! My understanding is that downloading is inhibited only when the message resides in a folder other than Inbox, or if it has been downloaded previously by that POP client. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "...winston" <winstonmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eArOKMTSIHA.5128@xxxxxx
