| | Re: Live Mail indexing in Windows Desktop Search 3.1 Ok....I finally figured it out. For some reason, when I decided to change my mail store in Windows Live Mail to C:\Email (a folder I created for the purpose) suddenly WDS began to search my emails perfectly. I had the folders selected for indexing in their previous location, so I can't explain why it would make any difference, but it did. The results in the WDS interface have a long meaningless file name which would be depressing, but when searching from within Windows Live Mail, it searches beautifully, including text from the message body AND pdf attachments. I spent hours today trying to get this to work and was about to concluded that it was impossible. Now it works perfectly! | | Re: Live Mail indexing in Windows Desktop Search 3.1 Well done DLB. The first thing I did after installing WLMail was to move the Message Store to another partition, and WDS 3.01 has always worked well for me within WLMail on my XP system. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "DLB" <DLB@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:FD5D6534-9448-4152-B77B-6ABDC9319964@xxxxxx Quote: > Ok....I finally figured it out. | | Microsoft Search 4.0 Preview replaces Windows Desktop Search 3.1 The new Microsoft Search 4.0 for XP is available for download in http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en It is similar in appearence to WDS and seems to take over it. Haven't tested it yet, but seems to integrate also with Windows Live Mail. |
