Re: Error Messages

This is a weird error message as that's the kind of error you get from
Javascript, not a windows dll.
Which OS are you running?
If it's WinXP, which version of the dll do you have installed (go to
c:\windows\system32 find shdoclc.dll, right click and select properties then
go to the version tab).
I have v6.0.2900.2180 installed on my machine and everything works fine.
This is a Windows dll and not actually a WLM dll.
Do you have problems printing from other applications like Internet
Explorer?

Thanks for the swift reply Colin.

I am running Windows XP Sp2 with everything updated.

The version of shdoclc.dll on my system is as yours, 6.0.2900.2180,
and I find that I cannot print from Internet Explorer, or any other
application.

Re: Error Messages

Try resetting IE:
Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reset.
You may want to save your cookies first since the reset deletes them.

Which answered only one of Noel's questions. E.g. if you have IE7 installed
you should not be using shdoclc.dll for printing. Instead Print Preview would be

res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg

But it you're printing from WLMail I don't understand why you would be getting
a Print Preview dialog anyway.

You need to give a better description of what you are doing and what you
are seeing. Remember, your words have to substitute for what our eyes
might notice.

Please answer the question then. *How* are you getting this symptom with
WLMail?

If you have IE7 that is what its Print Preview command (e.g. Alt-F,v) uses.

I don't know why you would be using shdoclc.dll if you have IE7 installed.

It would be more signficant to see your ieframe.dll and know that you are using it.

shdoclc.dll is not registerable and as I mentioned you shouldn't even try registering
shdocvw.dll any more if you have IE7 installed. You could try registering ieframe.dll.
E.g. Run... (press Win-R and enter)

regsvr32 /i ieframe.dll

(DependencyWalker shows that both DllInstall and DllRegisterServer are present.)

FWIW I don't have a printer but in order to do printing tests I have installed
a Generic / Text-Only Printer for Print to File use. When I press Ctrl-p
in WLMail with a message open in the Reading Pane I first get a prompt
to choose my printer and do other print setup. Even with that I can see
(using the TIF Viewer) signs of ieframe.dll being used in the background.
E.g. in an English version of IE press Alt-T,O,Alt-S,V
Then if necessary in the TIF Viewer set View, Details, ordered by Last Accessed
(Alt-V,D and Alt-V,I,Last Accessed). Scroll to the bottom and use the tooltips
for the files shown there. One of them is preview.dlg and the tooltip shows
res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg

So I guess that might be one answer to my question about ieframe.dll's
preview.dlg. Now, how are you getting shdoclc.dll's version of it? ; )

BTW in order to get more information about your script error,
if the error is really occurring in that module you could drag it
from the TIF Viewer to an open Notepad window.
View it with Word Wrap off and Status bar on (Alt-o,W and Alt-V,S)
Then you could press Ctrl-g and jump to the line which is supposedly
causing the error. According to the OP's details that would be 1334
which in my case gets "line number out of range", which would mean that
the message was deficient because not only does it not show us the source
of the error it doesn't even give us the right module to try looking in.

FWIW, again in the TIF Viewer, below preview.dlg I see preview.js
When I browse that one instead 1334 is not out of range
but it probably isn't what was being reported either.

Perhaps you see something different?
