| Guest | Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account Please help me solve this strange problem. I'm using WLM in Vista where I enabled the built-in Administrator account. I also have another Administrator account called "User". I would like to share my three E-mail accounts (2 POP3 and 1 http) between the two Vista user accounts. To this purpose I modified the default store directory for the built-in Administrator account to the one used by the "User" account C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail and I'm able to read my E-mails in both Vista user Account. If I don't switch the Vista user account everything works fine and WLM remembers the passwords for all three E-mail accounts event through restarts. However as soon as I switch Vista user account either by logging off then logging on as a different Vista user or by restarting and logging on as a different user WLM forget the password for the two POP3 E-mail accounts even if the remember password option is checked. I tried to delete and re-create the two POP3 accounts and also tried disabling the Kaspersky mail scanning module with no results. Please excuse me for the less than average English as it isn't my primary language. |

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account Hi Max, I had a similar scenario where I shared my WLMail Message Store between two XP Operating Systems, with the Message Store on a separate partition. This worked fine except I too needed to re-enter the e-mail account passwords after switching Operating Systems. I just accepted it, for I could find no workaround. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Max" <Max@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:84776B47-8E3E-41C1-BD9A-A5E71C90470A@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account Hi Peter, thanks for the quick reply. At least now I know that this isn't a problem related to my system and I can also avoid to try to move the Message Store to another directory outside of the Users root. By the way, I hope the off-topic isn't too much, do you know if Outlook will work in cases like this ? "Peter.R" wrote:

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account What you are seeing is normal. The Windows user name is part of the key used to encrypt the password store. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Max" <Max@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:84776B47-8E3E-41C1-BD9A-A5E71C90470A@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account You can share your Outlook data files in a similar way Max, although the account information is stored in the registry for Outlook. See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...124801033.aspx for more information. I suspect you would have the same password problem using Outlook though. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Max" <Max@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4C7D0549-4307-413F-A383-48DCDF59E19F@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account Thanks Gary, so maybe this behaviour is to be expected even in Outlook. Still I don't understand why only POP3 E-mail accounts are affected. In fact the password for my http mail account (Hotmail) is retained even when switching Windows user. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote:

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account HTTP accounts use entirely different conventions. They came along long after the POP3 protocol became standard. I'm not really familiar with how the HTTP accounts are handled. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Max" <Max@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:E6C2FB86-DC24-4087-8A24-BF547B7F0CF3@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Passwords not remembered when switching Windows user account Thanks Gary, will remember this every time I need to share a Message store with POP3 accounts between multiple Windows Users or PCs. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote:
