newsgroup pane

I am so tired of every time I go into the Newsgroup pane it goes to a group
I rarely look at, and it certainly was not the last group I looked at nor is
it on the top of my list

Customize your "hidden" folder pane for newsgroups to show an icon only for
the newsgroup you want to start at. Add a Folder pane button to the toolbar
to toggle between the normal and your customized view.

FWIW my "hidden" folder pane shows only the Outbox. Then to enter my
newsgroups I just use the Go To Folder command (press Ctrl-y).
Even so, I haven't figured out yet how to predict what item gets selected when
that dialog is opened. It may be related to what I had opened last which,
depending on how I used it could be useful or not... ; )

I use this suggestion from Peter to go to a specific newsgroup:
Create a desktop shortcut:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe"
/newsurl:news:microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

I'm sure Peter will be along shortly to disclaim parentage of that baby!

What are you trying to say?
Do you not like the suggestion?

Here is the original post so Peter won't have to reply.

If you want to open newsgroups when you start WLMail, you can create a
shortcut similar to:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" /news
or
"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe"
/newsurl:news:microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Re: newsgroup pane

No offence, Ron - just thought it amusing that you were responding to a post
by Robert, who I'm fairly sure is the biological father of your tip. I'm
also sure that Peter's not one to rest on false laurels. It's a good tip
that I use myself, and it first appeared as far as I know on 21 September
last:

Re: newsgroup pane

If that is true, then maybe I shouldn't have mentioned where I got the tip.

Re: newsgroup pane

Yes guys, Robert Aldwinckle gave me that fine tip - thanks Robert. I guess I should have given credit to Robert when I passed it on. Thanks for the thought in any case Ron.
