How to disable generation of .sqm files?

I have a friend who uses Windows Live Mail, and he's complained to me that
it generates .sqm files. I believe these are Software Quality Metrics files
and are used by Microsoft for error reporting and monitoring of usage
habits. My question is: is there any way to disable the generation of these
files and if so how?

TIA.

Re: How to disable generation of .sqm files?

Hi Brian. Yes, .sqm files are created at times in WLMail's Message Store, but they are necessary and only temporary, so nothing to worry about as far as I am concerned.

Brian: if those files are indeed what your mate says they are, do they go
away (or at least not get updated) if you deselect 'Help make Microsoft...'
on the Options > General tab?
