I have a lot of folders and sub folders under my inbox which is a bit of
viewing disaster. Is there a mechanism in setiings to which will expand
folder or subfolder automatically if new mail arrive under that folder

Try toggling

Automatically display folders with unread messages

(in Options, General tab; keystrokes: Alt-T,O,d)
