Well I don't use yahoo but my gmail account works fine for both sending and
receiving, so I'd say re-check your settings.

If by 'procedures' you mean WLMail's automatic configuration, then the
yahoo configuration should work, but the gmail configuration gives port 25
for the outgoing server when it should be port 465 with SSL enabled
(Tools->Accounts...->Properties [button]->Advanced [tab]. See
http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/t...-settings.html for the
standard settings. Make sure 'My server requires authentication' is also
checked (Tools->Accounts...->Properties [button]->Servers [tab].

Both Yahoo! and Gmail work fine in my copy of Windows Live Mail.

Yahoo! Mail server access requires either a paid Yahoo! Mail Plus account
(comes with my ISP), or one of the nation CC TLD Yahoo! accounts
('yahoo.co.uk', 'yahoo.com.au', 'yahoo.es', 'yahoo.co.jp', etc.). In my
caes, my 'pacbell.net' account can use Yahoo! Mail POP3/SMTP servers, and I
also have a 'yahoo.com.au' and a 'yahoo.co.jp' account.

Gmail server access requires configuration at the Gmail site to prepare the
account for use with mail clients. After that has been done, you have to
configure the outgoing server using port 465 with SSL (Windows Live Mail
fails when trying to use port 587 with STARTTLS; a bug carried over from MS
Outlook Express where STARTTLS only works with port 25; but Gmail doesn't
use port 25 for outgoing email). Incoming should be either port 995 with SSL
(for POP3 access), or port 993 with SSL (for IMAP access).
