Windows Live Mail message store keeps getting corrupted.

About 80% of the time when I open Live Mail, I get the following error
message: "The message store has been corrupted by an application external to
Windows Live Mail". So far Live Mail has been successful in restoring the
data; however, it makes me real uneasy and I worry that one day it will not
be successful in restoring my data.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this or how I can find out what is
causing this?
I am running under Windows XP (Home Ed) and IE 7.

Probably your anti-virus application. Turn off email scanning in your
anti-virus app, and see if the problem persists. Your system will still
be protected by the anti-virus application's real-time scanning
abilities.

Re: Windows Live Mail message store keeps getting corrupted.

Windows Live Mail does not have the ability for separate identities.
If you are not using the same email address.
To keep mail truly separate.
- use a different Windows Logon ID
- use a different email account

Windows Live Mail Message Store Error:

Microsoft knows of this problem, and has informed me that
"we are currently working on a fix for this problem, however we are not sure when it will be released."

About being an old problem, it is only about 60 days old for me. I am running Vista Home Premium

For those of you that have this problem and are not able to resolve it like me, just hold on and know Microsoft is trying to get it fixed ASAP.

Re: Windows Live Mail message store keeps getting corrupted.

Hi, itsburt.

Since your post arrived via the "vBulletin USENET gateway" and did not
include ANY context at all, we have no idea how old "this problem" is, or
even which newsreader you are using. The "gateway" simply relayed your
post - with no context - to the microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
newsgroup on the Microsoft public news server, where I am reading it and
responding, and from where the "gateway" MIGHT relay it back to your
"forum".

We've seen no such reports in this newsgroup, at least, not for many months.
I don't recall that anybody has reported such a problem with the current
build (14.0.8064.0206, released in February 2009) of Windows Live Mail. Are
you using Windows Mail? Or an older version of Windows Live Mail?

Re: Windows Live Mail message store keeps getting corrupted.

You did not quote the previous posts in this very old thread, and those
posts are no longer on the server.

This means that we need to go searching for those posts in newsgroup
archives to understand exactly what you are talking about.

I found this:
Windows Live Mail message store keeps getting corrupted.

So I am assuming that the error message to which you refer is: "The
message store has been corrupted by an application external to
Windows Live Mail".

Are you using the latest version of WLMail (2009 14.0.8064.0206)?
What antivirus program are you using?
What Firewall are you using?
What Operating System?
Have you uninstalled then re-installed (Custom Install) your antivirus
program without the e-mail scanning components?
