Using Reply All

I noticed something else that seems weird in Live Mail. When I reply all it
includes me on the To: line or the CC line. In Outlook and OE, it would put
a mail in your Sent folder but not also send you a mail. Why does it do this
behavior?

Re: Using Reply All

Strange, I'm not seeing this behavior.
I've taken a look through settings and also through the registry and can't
see anywhere where this behavior would occur.
Since you are MSFT, are you perhaps using a different internal build than
the public one?

Re: Using Reply All

I figured it out. Live mail logically keys off the mail address in the
properties of the account. If the mail is auto forwarded (using something
like POBox), then it is technically a different address. Thus there is
really no way to for Live Mail to see that the mail was forwarded to
hotmail, where i coalesce various other email addresses required for using
different systems.

For example, my siblings all use a Google group tied to a Gmail account. I
forward all my family gmail for the google group to Hotmail because hotmail
works for me. But hotmail doesn't know that. How could it? Thus, it sees
Francis (from Gmail) as different tha Francis (from Hotmail) and puts him
(meaning me) on the reply when i hit Reply All.

I would say pilot error in this case. Or at least, an oversight on my part.
But thanks for checking this. It forced me to look beneath the surface.
Perhaps it's useful info for other users who have centered their email in
hotmail, which is nice.

Re: Using Reply All

I figured it out.

Pilot error or at least an oversight. Thanks for looking into this as it
forced me to dig a little deeper.

It happens when I receive mail that was auto-forwarded because mail that is
autoforwarded is technically being sent to another address.

For example, my family uses a google group. In order to participate I have a
gmail account, but I autoforward that email to hotmail, which I check more
regularly. That mail is actually being sent to Francis(gmail address) not
Francis (hotmail address). I then blithely hit Reply All. But the mail
wasn't sent to my hotmail address to it see Francis (gmail) as a different
email recipient.

After some thinking this is really the only behavior that makes sense. Maybe
this is helpful to others but clearly it is not a hotmail problem.
