Quote Fixing

I have come to appreciate QuoteFix for OE. It did a far more
intelligent job of quoting messages in newsgroups.

It appears it is not Vista/LiveMail compatible

Does anyone know of a like product available for Vista Live Mail?

Re: Quote Fixing

Hello Joseph,
There was a pretty lengthy thread on that topic in this forum about a month
ago. Iirc, nothing for WLM in Vista was offered and OE QuoteFix has not been
updated in quite some time.

Maybe time or a WLM update will make something available, until then
wysiwyg.

Haven't found one.

Wrote to the author of Q.F., but no reply.
Wrote to Microsoft and did receive a reply asking for specifics...
Did just that, but nothing further from the company.

Quote problems in MS mail clients go back at least a decade. Though
tests show that there may have been some improvement, they do not
perform as well as the open-souce Mozilla-inspired mail clients that I
use, IMO.

Used it for years but for me it stopped working usefully with XP SP2; as the
author pointed out,

" * OE-QuoteFix uses external files to color quoted material and to
replace emoticons with icons. After installing WinXP SP2, OE is configured
by default to block automatic downloads of external content. That means the
coloring and icons features in OE-QuoteFix will not work. If you wish to use
these features, you must disable the block in OE under [Tools | Options |
Security].
* Furthermore, SP2 makes changes in OE's Read all messages in plain text
feature. Instead of using an IE control, it now uses the RichEdit control.
OE-QuoteFix' Viewing features will not function at all if you enable the
plain text feature in OE under [Tools | Options | Read]. "

Sometimes progress is backwards.

That depends on your point of view. In the past, coding conventions were
sloppy, with little regard for security. The world is a different place now.
XP SP2 and Vista had to change that paradigm. It's called adapt or become
extinct.
