The USB key is handy, since it's small enough to carry with you. Copy from the main drive and place on a jump drive, or slave/external drive(preferred), rather than a cd to ensure it file isn't set as Read Only. -- ...winston ms-mvp windows live mail "Peter Dryton" <PeterDryton@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C11AD15F-987F-44A7-BCC3-E3E509336B8B@xxxxxx You then take that folder you created and put it on a DVD or an external hard drive. I thought you would've known to do that. |

The folder used for the export(File/Export/Messages) must be an empty folder, otherwise it will not work. -- ...winston ms-mvp windows live mail "Peter Dryton" <PeterDryton@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:F55A68DB-8BDC-49B8-BBA7-9D31A33C3067@xxxxxx Hi, Tom. It's fairly easy to backup all your emails. Here's how you do it. First, set up a folder off My Documents. Give it a name, like "Windows Live Mail Emails." Then, go into Windows Live Mail. Click file, export, messages, Microsoft Windows Live Mail, and next. Click browse and find the folder you just created. Click on the folder and click OK. Click next. Choose to backup all folders (which is my preferred method) or selected folders. Click next. That's all you do.
