| Guest | Importing Accounts - No Option For It! Importing and exporting messages is really easy. I'm all ready when the time comes to format my hard drive and re-load all my email messages back into Windows Live Mail using import. However, why is it that there is an option to export accounts, yet there is no option to import accounts once you want to re-load your accounts back into the program? It makes no sense. Peter |

Peter, You said: "I'm all ready when the time comes to format my hard drive and re-load all my email messages back into Windows Live Mail using import." Pardon my ignorance, but how do you do that? There is a lot about WLM that I don't understand but are you backing them up to some other storage place first? | Guest | Re: Importing Accounts - No Option For It! Hi, Tom. It's fairly easy to backup all your emails. Here's how you do it. First, set up a folder off My Documents. Give it a name, like "Windows Live Mail Emails." Then, go into Windows Live Mail. Click file, export, messages, Microsoft Windows Live Mail, and next. Click browse and find the folder you just created. Click on the folder and click OK. Click next. Choose to backup all folders (which is my preferred method) or selected folders. Click next. That's all you do. | Guest | Re: Importing Accounts - No Option For It! Yes, but if that folder is on your disk and the format the disk, the folder will be erased. | Guest | Re: Importing Accounts - No Option For It! Thank you Robert. That was my point, exactly. I was just checking to make sure something BIG hadn't happened since the last time I looked. <g> But, now that I think of it, wouldn't that be a good idea? If you could BACK UP data to a secret/hidden sector of a disk and then reformat it and then restore from the same disk after the format. It would certainly simplify getting a fresh install of the O/S. I know it's possible because my Sony VAIO laptop didn't come with any O/S disks but it has procedure for reinstalling the O/S from a hidden sector. Which is, of course, why one should periodically back up one's documents folder to external media. :-) I was reminded of this the hard way recently when my laptop was stolen. :-( -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) <robertmiles@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23Fa705yaIHA.5160@xxxxxx Quote: > Yes, but if that folder is on your disk and the format the disk, the folder > will be erased. > > "Peter Dryton" <PeterDryton@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:F55A68DB-8BDC-49B8-BBA7-9D31A33C3067@xxxxxx Quote: >> Hi, Tom. >> >> It's fairly easy to backup all your emails.
