Newsgroup Communities support features

What are newsgroup communities support features and what are the
consequences of checking and/or unchecking this option. I can't find any
information in the WLM help section regarding this option and I cannot find
any answers on the web.
I am currently reading the WLM discussion group threads submitted on
01/18/2008 and my intention is to work backwards until I reach the very
first thread regarding WLM. Maybe I can get answers not provided in WLM's
help section. I certainly hope so.
Thank you for your time. I appreciate any assistance available.

C.B.

Re: Newsgroup Communities support features

Hi C.B.

The newsgroup Communities support features option gives the ability to
provide feedback to the newsgroups as a Rating (Useful/Not useful), and
the ability to tag posts as a comment, question, or suggestion when one is
signed into Windows Live through WLMail.

When one is not signed in, this feature still provides descriptive icons
in columns called "Rank", "Msg Type", and "Rating". "Rank" can indicate
whether a poster is an MVP, "Msg Type" indicates whether a post is a
comment, question, or suggestion, as well as whether a question was
'answered', and "Rating" can indicate whether a thread is 'good'.
