Exploit-Mime.gen.c Came in my Windows Live Mailbox Through MSN Hotmail

I received an E-mail today from Microsoft and it set off my Mcafee Virus
Alert . I deleted it and emptied the Trash and now I am re-running my Virus
Scanner and so far nothing has resurfaced.

Can anyone tell me if Microsoft would ever send out any Updates through
Windows Live Mail or MSN Hotmail ? I always rely on Updates through
Microsoft Auto Scan on my computer. The Funny thing it that the E-mail
looked Legitimate but I deleted it anyway . It's so easy to Clone a webpage
you can't trust anything today.

Please comment if you noticed anything like this.

Thank You.

Regards,
DWJ

No, Microsoft never sends Updates that way - for the very reason you
mentioned. Even the IRS has been impersonated with email that fools a lot
of users. :>(

Get your updates from Windows Update! Set it to download them and inform
you so that you can review them and install the ones you want at a time
convenient for you. (But don't wait long, especially for critical security
updates!). If you don't want to be bothered with reviewing them, then just
set WU to install them automatically.

R.C.

Thank you for the feedback , I did not think Microsoft would ever send
Updates through the Mail.
