updates forever but nothing pulls.

How do I get my feeds to start downloading again?
I'm using firefox with home edition xp. They haven't haven't worked now for
2-weeks or so. What could have happened to make them stop?

Re: Feeds quit!

Have you tried a manual update (right-click "Your feeds"->Update feeds)?

What default schedule have you set for auto updating feeds (right-click "Your feeds"->Manage feeds...->Update feeds every: ...)?
- Try changing it to "Never" close/reopen then back to a frequency schedule.

Also check the scheduling for individual feeds (right-click "Your feeds"->Manage feeds...->expand feed folder->highlight feed->"Edit Feed" [button]->...)

The Feeds in WLMail are synchronised with the feeds in Internet Explorer 7.

Re: Feeds quit!

Thankyou Peter for the suggestions. Yes I've done all you suggest.
Everything seems to be as it should be. However when I click "Update Feeds"
the status bar just shows updating. No messages are brought to any of my
folders. Would reinstalling WLM be good to do? Would it make all my
subscribed feeds disappear. (sure wouldn't want that).

Re: Feeds quit!

A repair install or a standard uninstall/reinstall would not affect your messages, feeds, newsgroups, rules, settings etc, so that might be worth a try.

You might want to subscribe to a new feed and see if that one updates.

You could also try this: export the feeds from IE7 (File->Import and Export...), then delete all your feeds, from within WLMail after checking "When deleting a feed here, also delete it from your Internet Explorer feed list" (right-click "Your feeds"->Manage feeds...->...). Then close WLMail, restart IE7 and import the feeds back into IE7. Restart WLMail.

Otherwise, you could try this: make a note of the URL for each of your feeds. Then delete all your feeds, restart WLMail and re-subscribe to them.

Re: Feeds quit!

Thanks again Peter--I've just discovered that all my feeds in IE7 (which are
the same as those in WLM) cannot be updated also. Well here goes with
uninstall and then reinstall.

Re: Feeds quit!

Peter I'm like a bad dream I know- what I thought was happening really
wasn't. I did as you said--I deleted all the feeds in WLM with the delete
in IE7 also checked. This did delete all feeds in IE7. Of course I
exported the feeds file and then imported back first. This did make all the
feeds appear in WLM again. Only one problem--neither in IE7 or WLM will
they update. I must refresh each one individually in IE7. After I do this
those messages appear in WLB. Back to the original thing. I still can't
get WLM to update feeds. I have IE7 set to update every 30 mins. (same in
WlB. What the heck has happened to this stuff. It really was working great
foo a couple months. When it gets right down to it this WLM is the coolest
thing going. Mail, Newsgroup, and Feeds all in one app. It is great when
it works.

Re: Feeds quit!

Ok, it is hard to say if the problem lies in IE7 (most likely if the feeds are not auto-updating there) or WLMail, so you may want to tackle both at once.

Try this:

1. Open IE7 and export your feeds (File->Import and Export...->...), then close IE7.

2. Delete all your feeds from within WLMail after checking "When deleting a feed here, also delete it from your Internet Explorer feed list" (right-click "Your feeds"->Manage feeds...->...), then close WLMail.

3. Open IE7 and ensure all feeds are deleted from there also, then close IE7.

4. Locate the file 'RssFeeds.xml' in your WLMail Message Store and delete it.

To find the location of your WLMail Message Store, go Tools->Options...->Advanced [tab]->Maintenance->Store Folder (the default location is a hidden folder, so ensure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked under Folder Options in Windows Explorer).

5. Delete the contents (should just be the file 'FeedsStore.feedsdb-ms') of the 'Feeds' folder in the following locations (hidden folder):

Vista: %localappdata%\microsoft\Feeds
(C:\Users\<Windows user account>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds)

XP: %userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft\Feeds
(C:\Documents and Settings\<windows user account>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Feeds)

6. Open WLMail, then close it again. This will recreate the file 'RssFeeds.xml' in the Message Store.

7. Open IE7 and import your feeds (File->Import and Export...->...). Allow a few minutes for all your feeds to be downloaded automatically (feed name becomes bolded when updated), then close IE7 again. If the feeds do not automatically update in IE7 at this stage, then you have a problem with IE7 (try closing and restarting IE7).

8. Open WLMail - feeds should download in WLMail (if step 7. succeeded), and hopefully update automatically afterward.

Good luck!
