MS Email Live and no password needed. Strange.

Very well, got my new VAIO, Vista and all the bells and whistles.

Installed Windows Live Mail.

I start WLM program and it asks me for a password and I click cancel and the
app. starts and shows all my emails. A little bit os privacy GONE.

This Live mail is as secure as a Volvo with no key!

Any help please.

Regards
Niels

Re: MS Email Live and no password needed. Strange.

WLM does not have a login.
You are seeing the login for Windows Live.
Password the Windows user. This protects all of your files.

The old MS Outlook Express Identity password feature was a translucent veil
in the "privacy" department. It provided no security at all; all email was
still accessible to any user on the computer. If you were running a Windows
9x OS, you had no security from the prying eyes of shared users.

With Windows Vista, you have all the security of the User account. If you
log out of the Vista User account, and nobody else has that User account log
in credentials, they won't be able to access *any* component of your User
account, not even your email. So just don't share your User account log in
credentials with shared users of that computer, and always log out the User
account when you leave. That is all the security you will need.
