Importing Old E-Mails from MO 2000 into WLM MAPI error

I have a new PC with Windows Vista Student Edition and WLM installed. I did
a backup.pst file from my old PC running Windows 98SE using MO 2000. But
when I click on Import from Vista's WLM, I get an error code "Messages Can
Not Be Imported from the MAPI client""An Error Has Occured".

Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Importing Old E-Mails from MO 2000 into WLM MAPI error

I can't find the thread just now, but I'm fairly certain that the import
function for Outlook messages doesn't work with Outlook 2000. What others
have done is to import Outlook messages into Outlook Express on the old PC,
then imported from OE's .dbx files to WLMail. This required installing
WLMail on the old box, but if yours is running W98, you won't be able to do
that.

You may be able to drag your messages from OE to Explorer folders on the W98
box (this should convert them to individual .eml files), copy those folders
to your new machine and then drag messages from them into WLMail. Tedious,
but effective. If you have *hundreds* of messages, don't drag more than 50
or 100 at a time into WLMail, and give the app time to do its housekeeping
before dragging the next lot.

Please post back with your experiences.

The procedure is to import the Outlook folders (messages) into Outlook
Express.
Then, move the OE store folder to Vista, import into WLM.
This does not require installing WLM on the old pc.
