share emails with 2 Vista accounts

Hello all,

I recently upgraded (?) to Vista Home Premium from XP Home. We used WLM on
XP with two login accounts (for XP, not WLM) and were able to view, send, and
receive the same emails between the accounts. In other words, the two
accounts shared 1 Inbox, 1 Sent Items, etc., including Storage Folders.
After installing Vista and WLM, only one account has the emails. The other
account shows nothing in WLM. I also noticed that the emails are now stored
in one account's personal folder after I imported them to WLM. Can I move
the emails to the Public folder and direct WLM to go there so that emails can
be sent, received, and viewed from either account? The email account is
HTTP. Thanks for the help.

Re: share emails with 2 Vista accounts

I can think of no reason why this shouldn't work, if I understand the
scenario correctly. You have separate Windows user accounts, but you share a
common Hotmail-type e-mail account. Do you also share a Windows Live ID
(probably the same as your email address)?

If WLMail is set up correctly on both user accounts, you will also have to
set up the HTTP account for the second user, with the same account details
as for the first. I should have thought that messages would synchronize with
the server in both instances. If you share a Live ID and both sign in with
it, your contacts lists should be identical. The Storage folders will be
individual, though - just like your Documents folder. To get the Storage
folders into the other account, an Administrator would have to import them.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'personal' and 'public' folders -
perhaps you could post back and tell us.

Re: share emails with 2 Vista accounts

I think that RW has a pop account.
Instead of Public, think Shared.

Re: share emails with 2 Vista accounts

Thanks for the replies. I solved part of the issue, but uncovered two more.
Also, the email account is a windows live account. I'm not sure if it's HTTP
or POP, but the Properties shows it uses an HTTP server.

Under Tools - Options - Advanced - Maintenance - Store Folder, I was able to
direct WLM to the same storage folders for both Vista user accounts. WLM
then automatically synchronized accounts and folders between WLM on the two
Vista user accounts, with one exception - Storage Folders shows up on the
original WLM Vista user account but does not show up on the second one. Any
ideas? I need this folder to show up on both because we move a lot of emails
to this folder.

The second issue I ran into is that I can't open two instances of WLM, one
from each Vista user account. This worked find under XP and is something I
would like to try and resolve. Again, any ideas?

Thanks for the help.
