Export function

Hi,
I made a fatal mistake by attempting to backup the emails in WLM by copying
to another folder. Now everything messed up but still in the "Recovered
Items" folder. So now I'm attempting to just execute the EXPORT function on
all my email in WLM to the Outlook Exchange format. Well, the export function
went well. My question is where did go???

Thanks in advance.

Re: Export function

The Outlook Exchange format will create a .pst file, used only by Outlook.
Is this what you want?

The file should be in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

Re: Export function

Have you tried dragging the messages(not folders) from the Recovered Items(folders and subfolders) back to the original locations in
each respective email account, then use WLM included Export feature(File/Export/Messages)
- note the a blank folder is required as the destination for export.

Re: Export function

Thanks winston. Sounds good. But where should create a blank folder for the
export? Right in WLM?
I appreciate your help.

Thanks winston. Sounds good. But where should create a blank folder for the
export?
Normally you'd export to a second drive, eg, a USB drive, as a backup, but you can create a folder such as C:\Backups\Email and Export to that. Then you could Export your contacts and accounts to the same folder and burn it to DVD.

Re: Export function

CM,
You're welcome.

To echo cpemma's response..
Anywhere but within WLM.
My preference would be to create a blank folder on my Desktop, slave drive, or external drive using nomenclature of a product and
date[e.g. WLM0313], so I have a clue later what it contains. Occasionally backing up the export destination folder(now
containing exported messages) to some external media for an additional level of redundancy.
