New Mail Alert

I've just converted from Windows Mail to Live Mail. I'm using IMAP.

When new mail arrives, I don't get an audible alert. I've checked the
settings and they are ticked correctly.

95% of new mail also looks like previously read mail. Only very rarely does
it appear bold and with a the envelope closed. My old Windows Mail had this
problem too.

I'd appreciate a solution/advice?

Re: New Mail Alert

Check that a sound is applied to 'New Mail Notification' through: Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Sounds [tab] (XP), Control Panel->Sound->Sounds [tab] (Vista).

Re: New Mail Alert

Thanks Peter. I do now occasionally get an audible alert, but only
sometimes... which frustratingly is slightly more annoying than never getting
an alert. I feel it must be something to do with the way imap is handled by
windows live mail because most mail appears in the inbox looking as it has
all ready been opened and I'm guessing those are the mails that don't create
an audible alert.
