Windows Live Mail - Security Issue?

Hi, only last week I found out that when signing in to Windows Live
Mail (where you´ve got to enter user name and password) if you leave
the password box empty and click on cancel it opens Windows Live Mail
anyway and what it´s worse... it downloads all your email!! It happens
the same when leaving the password box empty and clicking on the close
button (the white cross in red background). This is specially worrying
for those who´´ve got Windows Live Mail installed at worked.

When I installed Windows Live Mail I set up a password to sign in so I
can´t understand what else I need to do to avoid anybody to access my
email accounts in such an easy way. I´ve checked with other people I
knew they had WLM installed and it happens exactly the same to them.

Can anyone tell me what I should do to avoid this to happen? Many
thanks

Virginia

Re: Windows Live Mail - Security Issue?

You don't sign in to Windows Live Mail. You sign in to Windows Live, which
then enables synchronization of contacts and a few other things that you can
read about by pressing F1. There is no security involved. If you want to
prevent co-workers from reading your mail while you are not at your desk,
press Windows key + L before you leave.

Re: Windows Live Mail - Security Issue?

I'm sorry Noel but I have to disagree. If the only option to prevent people
from seeing your email is locking the computer so there wouldn't be any
reason to exist a logon screen in the Windows Live Mail.

I'm with you on this Virginia !!!

Re: Windows Live Mail - Security Issue?

There isn't a login to WLM.
As Noel said, the login is for Windows Live.
If WLM had a login, you would be able to change your password without being
online.
If you are logged in, your login name appears on the right.
If you don't login, Windows Live Sign-in appears on the right.
